SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT AS A FACTOR CAUSING INDISCIPLINE AMONG STUDENTS OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN AGUATA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the environmental causes of indiscipline among senior secondary school students in Aguata Local Government Area (L.G.A) of Anambra State. By identifying and understanding these environmental factors, the study aims to provide insights that can help educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders develop effective strategies to mitigate indiscipline and create a more conducive learning environment. Two research questions in line with the research purposes guided the study. Discriptive survey research method was adopted for the study. The target population for this study includes all senior secondary school students, teachers, and school administrators in Aguata L.G.A. stratified random sampling technique was used to ensure that the sample is representative of the different schools and stakeholders within the L.G.A. Based on the findings, this study recommend that School Environment must be improved by Government and School Administrators, they  should prioritize investments in school infrastructure, ensuring that classrooms are not overcrowded and that facilities are adequate and conducive to learning. Professional Development for Teachers, Engage Community and Cultural Leaders and cultural Programs that emphasize the importance of discipline and respect should be integrated into the school curriculum, promoting a culture of discipline within the school and the broader community.
