EVALUATION OF THE AVAILABILITY OF WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHING OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

This study evaluates the availability of workshops that support the teaching of entrepreneurship education in public secondary schools in Anambra State. This study sheds light on the importance of workshops in the teaching of entrepreneurship education and the need for their availability in order to promote entrepreneurship among students in Anambra State. A research question and a null hypothesis in correspondence with research purpose guided the study. The research methodology used was  surveys and interviews with teachers and school administrators. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study was one thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three (1,733) teachers from 257 public secondary schools in Anambra state. The sample size was three hundred and forty-seven (347), Proportionate random sampling technique was used for the sample size. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire structured on a four point likert scale. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data collected for research questions. The null hypothesis was tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Both content and face validity were validated by the three experts all from faculty of education  (ESUT). Cronbach alpha technique was used for testing the reliability and the result showed a reliability indice of 0.78. The results showed that there is a significant lack of workshops available for teaching entrepreneurship education in these schools. This poses a challenge for the implementation of effective entrepreneurship education programs. This lack of availability may hinder the growth of entrepreneurship education in Anambra State and limit the opportunities for students to learn important skills and gain knowledge in this field. Further research and action must be taken in order to improve the availability of these workshops in order to promote entrepreneurship education in public secondary schools in Anambra State and better prepare students for the future workforce and highlights the need for more support and resources to be allocated towards the development and implementation of workshops that cater to the needs of teachers and students in this field. Based on these findings, recommendations are made for improving the availability and effectiveness of workshops for teaching entrepreneurship education in public secondary schools in Anambra State. That government and school authorities to prioritize the establishment and improvement of workshops for teaching entrepreneurship education in public secondary schools.
